Santa Claus it's coming to town

We have a special day in Hungary- Santa Claus is coming to town on every year, on the 6th of December! So, when the rest of the world is expecting Santa toarrive on Christmas evening, our old fellow is starting his world tour in Hungary. by the morning of this day Santa already put some sweets and fruits into everyone's boots, if they were cleaned on the day before.

(On christmas eve, according to the Hungarian tradition, the New born Jesus is the one, who gives christmas gifts)

So Santa arrived, and we waited him, and meanwhile we not just cleaned our boots, but also we put some nice clothes on our two little puppies: Mona Lisa and Maximilian. They are now 4 weeks old.

Aren't they lovely? Well, Santa found them lovely, because now we are eating a lot of chocolate!

Budapest Derby CACIB

For us this was the last show of the year, and the last for a long time in Hungary...

Well, we spend alovely day, the show was well organized, unfortunately the ring stewarts were not so well prepared, so it was hard to follow what is going on.

And the results? Well, Ivana got excellent, and was placed 2nd- don't ask me why! She behaved perfectly in the ring, she really ROCKED! But it seems that the judge had different opinion.

Anyway, I am really happy that finally Ivana got self confidence in the ring.

And another great achievement of the day: Ivana received her breeding certification, so I am officially allowed to breed with her! (although at this moment I willwait a little bit with this)

Miskolc CAC

On the 10th of October Gigi And Zoltan took part on a CAC show in Miskolc, Northern part of Hungary. This si usually a big sho as the city is very close to the Slovakian border, so the entries are always high.

Gi Gi and Zoltan were unbeatable that day, as Gi Gi After getting CAC title she also was BOB!

WOW! We were very happy and proud!

Ősagárd double speciality Show

On the 20th and 21st of August we attended on a double-sighthound speciality show in Ősagárd.

Ősagárd is a small village in Nograd county, about 50km from Budapest (approx 300 locals), but for a weekend in August this beautiful village, surrounded by the mountans, turns into a grat event for sighthound lovers around the world! the weekend contains programs for all the family: presentation of dogs on the stage, agility- dog-dancing-flyball presentations, children programs, fair of handmade traditional products, concerts, and opportunity to taste home-made delicious traditional Hungraian meals. And beside this grat double-show for sighthounds with breed specialist judges. This weekend was also a special opportunity to get the Hungarian Champion title for those dogs, who can achieve CAC title in both days.

We had a great weekend, with great results!

On saturday, Uther got only "good" qualification, because Mrs. Müller, from switzerland was not accepting any missing thoot, so however, she liked very much Uther, she did not tolerate the missign thoot. But Ivana did quite well, however she was still unsecured in the ring, but was OKenough to the CAC title.

On Sunday, Uther went CAC in champion class, and later on best male as wel, and Ivana got again CAC title, she was much better in the ring on the second day. Judge was Mr. Marku Mahonnen (Power Horn IW and wippet kennel) from Finnland. He told lot of nice things about both of our dogs, I was really very proud of them.

with these titles Ivana got the HUNGARIAN CHAMPION title and she is ust 17 month old!!!

And another special thing about this show: on the BOB competetion, Uther was handled by my brother Axel, who has not presented dog since 10 years! I was so happy that he was there with me in the BOB ring- thsi was the very first time we stood together there!

More pictures soon!

Donaueschingen 2010 Aug 7-8

A fabtastic weekend with great friends! Who can ask for more? That is what we had in Donaueschingen. 150 entered wolfhounds, 1100 entered sighthounds on the show- breed specialist judges- it was all there! We had a very good time!

And teh results? Well we have mixed emotionts, but we mostly agreed with them. Especially on sunday, when the weather was terrible and both Gi Gi and Ivana were tired- we could not expect more from our young girls. But we are very proud and happy on the same time because overall all Lahrob girls did well, and because we are very happy to celebrate our friend's success!

So the results:

Gigi: on saturday excellent 4, on sunday very good (hihihi, al really wonderful dogs receive very good once in a while)

Ivana: on saturday excellent, on sunday disqualified (well, she was sooo not in the mood, I shouldn't entered with her in the ring)

But we are extremely happy and proud of Hard Rock of Lahrob (Roxy) she won intermediate class both days, and above this she won CAC on saturday and res. CAC on sunday.(see picture above)

A big THANK YOU to her owners Christa and Veronika!

Both days BIS was Pitlochry's O' Brian Orak, big congratulations to Conny!

And big congrats to all our dear friends there: Marcello (BOS both days, first day with Ada, then with Pappa Col Pomodoro), Frederic (Eragorn won CAC second day), and so on, so on...

Pictures and more coming up soon!

Hungarian Sighthound Club and Special Show 2010/07/10-11

What a weekend we had!

But first, about the show. Since the past 11 years, I was always among the organizator team of our clubshow, I was helping, and working a lot before the club show and on the clubshow, usually I was a translator and/or ring stewart, which was a great experience for me- watching the judges during their work is a great experience to everyone who would like to learn more about the beloved breed. To organize a show it is not an easy work, there are so many things that the team is doing to make the excibitors pleased with the show.

The Hungarian Sighthound Club is a relatively small club, with approx. 100 emembers, who are very, very sensitive and inmediatelly let you know if you did something wrong with the show arrangements.

But this year, after 11 years I could show again in the club show and I saw the whole weekend through and eye of an excibitor.

First: I was really very pleased, and this has nothing to do with the results! The show itself was held in the park-garden of the castle of Godollo (the residence of the former Hungarian-Austrian queen Elsabeth, so called Sissi), the judges were sighthound specialist (as ususal), the ring assistance was professional, the judge critiques were printed, the trophys and the prizes were lovely, and the organizator team was very kind and they again prooved their hospitality by offering some snacks to the visitors and the excibitors before the BIS program.

Yes, as usual, there are a couple of things which could have been done better, but so far I think, by now, the Hungarian Clubshows are among the best.

The weather was extremely hot during the weekend, and te rings were on the sunshine, but the ring stewarts and the judges paid attention to send every dog to the shade who was not under judging: and the tentes were big enough above the judge and ring assistant area, to stand there even with an Irish Wolfhound.

The excibitors could find shadow under the big old trees of the park, so we had a very good time in the shadow (see picture:-)).

The BIS program started a little bit late on the first day, but this was because the judges done their job so good, that they gave a detailed critique to every dog and they were so kind, that after the judgement, if somebody went there asking opinion about a dog not even entered, they were happy to share their opinion with everyone.

The BIS program was a little bit slower, and agan it was because the judges wanted to make sure, that they are making the right decision, but the public was very happy and supportive with the applauses:-)

So overall, about the show I can tell that it was professionally organized. Thank God, that I could see it as an excibitor as well, and congratulations to the team who made it happen!

About the results and pictures, come back soon:-)

EIWC 2010- Denmark

As I promised earlier, I wrote some lines about this year's EIWC show in Denmark.

We were really happy to participate. As our accomodation was on place, we did not have to travel around so much, and we estabilished the tent of our friends Christa and Veronica on the day before, so there was no big preparation on the day of the show at all.

But the organization, the event itself was excellent. The rings were VERY huge (I think this time too big), the ring stewarts and the judge were under tents the critiques were written with typing machine in english (so there was no challenge to read it), gifts were provided to every entered dog- so overall it was perfect. But again a small thing also ruined a little bit our happy feeling- the catalogue costed 10 Euros- well, again I did not buy it. Not because 10 EUR is a big money, but because it is a principle for me- I paid 95 EUR to participate in a show, i think a catalogue cost should be covered in the entry fee.

But let's talk about the nice things: the show begun in time, the judge Knut Olva Wille was sooo kind and professional. I loved the way he judged. Unfortunately Ivana was on her worse day- she simply had enough of the weekend, she did not want to stay, however she ran in the ring perfectly. But although we received an excellent critique and the judge was very pleased with Ivana, we only got very got because of her behaviour. I have to confess, I was very-very sad, not because the result- I agreed with it. But because it is really anoying, that I have a wonderful dog who cannot behave in the ring! I had tears in my eyes, because in this case I could only blame myself that I was that fool to even present her, when she clearly did not had any intention to being shown.
But after a half an hour I was allrigth (thanks to Tore and his nice words, and for sharing some chocolate biscuits as well)

On the other hand it made us very happy, that Gigi was doing very well again! This time she was placed 4th and in front of her, Christas and Veronicas Hard Rock of Lahrob was placed 3rd!

I was really very happy.

And I was happy to celebrate each of the nice placings of our friend's dogs: EoghanIII du Grand Chien du Cullan had junior EIWC winner title (at the final competetion Zoltan was presenting him!) Connie's Pitlochry's O' Bryan Orak winning best male BOS EIWC winner handled by Fleur, and not forget to mention Christas and Veronicas male Rudolph who won open class, and again we were very happy to congratulate to Daniela Iori and Marcello Poli, when their Ada dei Mangialupi reached the top, and won EIWC winner BOB and BIS titles!

We spent the evening with a nice barbecue with friends before our long trip to home on next day's morning.

See you all in 2 years time on the Italian EIWC show by the lake Garda!

World Dog Show Denmark 2010/06/25

Surely, this was one of the most awaited events of the year, because of many reasons.
First: we have never been that far away from home with the dogs (Herning is about 1700 km from our place), and we have never spent 5 days away from our other dogs who we have to left home….
But on the other hand: to miss a weekend when we had the opportunity to present our dogs in the World Dog Show, than two days later on the EIWC show, this is really something special, and we could not resist to be there!
We left home on Wednesday evening, and after a long and tiring trip we arrived to vingisdetcentre. This place is about 60 km from Herning, but as the EIWC show was placed there we decided to stay all weekend in Vinsgret.
Our accommodation was super! We had a big wood house with full equipped kitchen, with terrace, and with a football size ground covered with short grass in front of our house. That was a dream for both Ivana and Gigi, who played a lot there during the weekend.
On the evening we met with our friends Christa and her daughter Veronika, who took 3 dogs with them: Rudolf (Kippendeen’s Rudolph a wonderful male ), her young bitch Adna (Skipendeers Adna) and Roxi, (Hard Rock of Lahrob) a beautiful young female with lovely temperament. (you can see some earlier posts about her in our blog).
By the evening our other precious friend, Connie Fehrnout-Schmidt arrived with her beautiful dogs and her wonderful daughters Fleur and Anna as well.
We had a very nice evening, but went to sleep earlier- we discussed to go together on next day to the show.
On Friday morning we left Vinsgret to arrive in time to Herning. Thanks to the Dannish Kennel Club professionalism, on the confirmation of the Dog Show Entry we received all information we needed: the exact place, the ring number, the gate to enter, and even the start number, so we found our gate and parking place very quickly. Entering to the Herning exhibition center was very smooth- as there was no parking fee, there was no queu to wait in, and the kind and helpful support staff did a great job. So really, entering to the sho, and find our ring was the most easiest task of the day.
The first surprise was, when we noticed, that we would have to pay 8 EUR for the catalogue. This I found strange: after paying a 95 EUR entry fee per dog, for me it’s alittle bit strange, that a catalogue would cost extra money- I think the 95 EUR can cover also the catalogue. So I decided not to buy it- anyway, the result would be published. But the sponsor of the event was generaus and provided a big bag of dogfood, which made us forgive this catalogue-issueJ
Presenting a dog in such a big event is always a privilege, no matter what would be the result. Maybe that was the reason why I was not nervous- in young class bitches, where Ivana was entered; there was 29 entries, in intermediate class 16, where Gigi was presented.
The atmosphere, the crowd is really beyond belief- and although we had to wait long time until we could enter the ring with Ivana, but it was nice. She was running perfectly and standing perfectly- however this was her first indoor event she behaved better than I expected. Maybe she could have stood a little bit longer by herself, without starting to be deconcentrated- but common, she is just 14 months old! She exceeded al my expectations, when we got excellent. However Ivana was not placed in the first 4 I really was so happy and proud of her! Receiving an excellent in a world dog show from a breed specialist, Sue Cole, out of 29 entries, is far more than I’ve thought we could achieve.
And the best is yet to come….
In intermediate class, two Lahrob Girls were entered: Gigi and Hard Rock (Roxi). Both girls are wonderful, and both Zoltan and Veronica are very good handles (surely better than I am), and the Gigi were just beautiful in the ring. Their movement, the standing, the presentation- they simply took the judge’s heartJ No surprise they both got excellent, and when it was about placement, accompanied by the crowd’s applause Roxi was placed 3rd and Gigi won the class!

What more can make a breeder proud? Out of the 3 entered Lahrob girls, all of them got excellent, and 2 of them were placed in the same class- seeing Gigi and Roxi standing on the center of the ring one as a class winner, the other as 3rd, is every breeders dream come true- I had some tears in my eyes for sure, and if Zoltan were as emotional as I am he surely would have tooJ So I think this was his moment, when the way of his breeding is appreciated, when he could justify that the direction where he goes with the breeding is very good.
After the show, we took a round in the show center- I was surprised of how big the place is, and how many shops are, where they offering anything you can imagine (and what you can not) for the dogs. Really, it was amazing! (and expensive of courseJ)
However, we got back to Vinsget quite early- we were so tired and decided not to wait for the BIS program.
On the evening there was a get together event organized by the Danish team who was arranging the weekend- we had nice drinks, yummy sandwiches- and lots of stories to tell to our dear friends- Frederic, whose Eoghan du Grand Chien du Cullan won Junior world title, Connie, whose Giggles of Eire won World Winner CACIB title among the bitches (presented by her breeder Amy from USA), and we met there with Marcelo Poli and Daniela Iori, who haven’t entered to the WDS, only the EIWC show. Of course, the Italian team would not be complete without mentioning Cristina Leonardi, whose Benjamin Malaussene dei Mangialupi won the working class and the CAC title in the WDS!
So we had a good time, until from 10 o clock they started to shut down the big hall at the hotel- so we went back to our place, and continue the celebration: this time the Finnish team, the Brokenwheel kennel (they won the Junior World Winner title with their young bitch) and with our friends Petra Tomasovicova (Roan Inish Kennel) from Slovakia and Davor Marjanovic from Slovenia (Cudama kennel) joined as well. We had a lot of fun, and celebrated the dogs and the friendship until dawn.
It is really strange in Denmark, that on the 11 PM is still bright and also from 4 AM- so it was hard to sleep, as I am not used to sleep in daylight…
Te beautiful show pictures were taken by Laszlo Kutvolgyi, whose beautiful Iarla also got excellent in the champion class males competition.

Pictures Budapest OMSE CAC

As I promised, some pictures from the weekend- sorry for the quality they were taken with my mobile phone:-)

Show News- CAC Budapest OMSE

Today was Ivana's debut in itnermediate classs! However, she is just 15 months old, but I thought, that after getting the HJCH title it would not worth to enter her into young class, but we will start in intermediate class. There fore, I didn't have any expectations- what can I expect among the adults with a big puppy?

the show place itself was quite close to my home, I live about 20 minutes driving form the Northen part of Budapest, so we got there quite early to accomodate ourselves in the shadow. The weather was quite OK, although we saw claudes coming and going but there was no rain.

The judge was Mr. Gyorgy Hartmann, who is often judging sighthounds in Hungary, but somehow, in the last 13 yers, since i have wolfhounds I just did not managed to show him any dogs. But this time we went with Ivana, and the judge was very kind and professional. Ivana got her first CAC title, so she started to collect the titles for the Hungarian chmapionship, and above this, she also got BOB! WOW! this was more than I ever imagined! We stayed for the BIS program as well, but let's be realistic: between the 5-6 years old champions, Ivana had no chance to be placed in the group: BOG was an champion male afghan, and reserve a champion barzoj. But we realy went home happy and proud with the newest trophy of Bogyo! I will upload some pictures later on today, for now this one was taken outside the ring...

FUN Team Building pictures

I told you: when it is about food, Uther is very active:-)

FUN Topic

On Tuesday, 15th of June I went with my team as my workplace to a team building event. We choose to visit the beautiful Visegrad, where you can see one of the oldest and prettiest castle of Hungary, and the enviroment the view is breathtaking. Visegrad is a small town by the order of the Danube, surrounded by mountains so it is really worth to visit! Nearby the castle there is a summer bobsleigt lane, and my team enjoyed it a lot! We brought sandwiches, snacks and drinks, we had a picnic.

I also brought Uther with me: as Uther is a real gentleman he was very lovely and friendly with everyone, and also he enjoyed his popularity:-)

Uther spend most of his day by receiving cuddles and kisses, and he slept a lot in the shadow- but when it was about food, he suddenly became very active! :-)

We had a very good time in this beautiful day!

Congratulations Christa, and thanks for the pictures!
